Muong Hoa Valley in Sapa

Traveling in Sapa, many people have admired the majestic beauty of the Bac waterfall, and this is the source of the stream with a beautiful name, Muong Hoa. Valley Muong Hoa in Sapa is one of the ideal destinations for Vietnam trekking tours.

Located in Muong Hoa Valley, the Hoa stream is 15 kilometers along the valley, through the villages of Lao Chai, Ta Van, Hao Thao, etc. and ends in Ban Ho. The stream is like a giant zigzag boa, winding side of the terraced fields. In the rice season, the yellow color from the rice field shadow on the blue water to enhance the magical beauty of Muong Hoa valley.

There are about 22 small springs flowing from the forests to the mainstream. The ravines make this stream flow all year round. To easily cross to the opposite shore, the residents along the streams made bridges cross the stream next to the ancient moss. The bridges have contributed to the beauty of streams and also attracted many tourists to witness these magnificent sceneries.

Throughout the length of the stream, there are many pools, cascades with white stones arranged elaborately. The wide and flat stream at Ta Van become the ideal beach. On weekends, from Sa Pa town people come here to dive in the cool water leaving behind the worry and noise of the bustling city.

The elderly in Muong Hoa valley also said that in the past, there were many century-old trees in the stream, under the tree niches there are the fish relatives homes. Fish in Muong Hoa streams are countless. In February and March in the lunar calendar, when the warm wind blows the cold of the highland, the village boys will invite other village girls to catch fish on the streams. At this time, the stream burst by the laughing of the young. They kick the rocks down to the stream so the fishes will be scared to flee into the rock niche. Since then after the fish swimming into the niche, they go to the tree niches to catch the fishes. Fishing is just an excuse for the boys to hold the girl hand in hand, send passionate eyes to each other, and love starts from the Muong Hoa stream.

Muong Hoa Valley is also home to the Sa Pa Ancient Rock Field. This strange stone carving field is interwoven between grass and terraced fields of ethnic minority people. Stretching over a length of over 4km long, 2km wide, with at least 159 stones, contains many mysterious figures, Sa Pa Ancient Rock Field have been the focus of research of many scientists in Vietnam, Russia, France and Australia.

The whole Sa Pa Ancient Rock Field have stones with beautiful carvings, concentrated in Ban Pho. With large stones, the surface is engraved with different shapes. Especially the shape of people in many positions such as the human figure with outstretched arms, round head radiates aura, people holding hands, upside down human. Furthermore, there are some of the figures which are similar to the figure symbol and religious meaning of Dong Son drums. People find many similarities with the Dong Son culture, dating from 2,300 to 3,000 years. Many scientists agree that this is a great human inheritance because it is not only about art but also spiritually spiritual. This rocky fields attracts curious visitors about the mysterious shapes of rocks and the magic stories told by local people.

Entering deep into the valley, visitors can admire many wonderful images of Muong Hoa. You also have the opportunity to visit the remote villages of the Black H'mong, Red Dao, and Giay. Local people are very hospitable, they will take you to visit some terraced fields, to admire the beauty of nature and learn how to be a farmer.

If you come here on New Year's Day, you will be lucky to experience the New Year's festival of Ta Van Commune. It is also called Pooc Roong Festival. At first, it was just a traditional festival of the Giay people. After many years, it became the festival of the whole valley.

Today, Muong Hoa valley becomes a very popular tourist destination when visiting Sapa. After leaving Sapa, you will surely remember the feeling of peace when being in harmony with nature, forgetting the busy of the city.
