You can opt for an overnight train ride, which takes about 8 hours. Trains depart regularly from Hanoi train station to Lao Cai, the closest point to the park. Train tickets range from 150.000 - 680.000 VND per way, depending on the type of seat.

 

Bus

There are also regular buses that make the journey. These buses are usually cheaper and offer several departures throughout the day. Some reputable companies that operate the Hanoi - Lao Cai route are Sao Viet, Ha Son-Hai Van, and Viet Bus. A one-way trip takes about 5-7 hours, costing 250.000 - 350.000 VND per person.

From Lao Cai to Sapa

Once in Lao Cai, you have two options to get to Sapa: by taxi or by bus.
