The Bay Mau Coconut Forest, also known as Hoi An Coconut Forest, is a famous ecotourism area in Hoi An. According to the local population, the Bay Mau Coconut Forest has existed for 200 years. At that time, migrants from the southwest introduced varieties of water coconut and planted them scattered throughout the region. Soil fertility and abundant water were key factors, allowing these trees to multiply gradually and develop into a large forest of around 7 acres or 7 hectares. The name of the forest is taken from this anecdote, “bảy mẫu” meaning 7 acres, although this coconut forest currently has a total area of up to 100 hectares. During the War against the French, the area served as a very important revolutionary hideout that bore witness to many fierce battles between the two forces. Today, the area has been harnessed for its unique natural beauty to become one of Hoi An's most famous eco-tourism destinations.

From downtown Hoi An, you can take one of two routes:

By boat

Take a boat from Bach Dang wharf, in the old town of Hoi An, and the boat will take you to the coconut forest downstream on the Thu Bon River.

By road

From Hoi An, take Tran Nhan Tong Street, cross the Cua Dai bridge, and drive another 1.5 km to reach the coconut forest. With this itinerary, you'll reach your destination in just 10 minutes by car.
