Golden Bridge and Ba Na Hills Travel Guide

Ba Na Hills is one of Vietnam’s most famous attractions, drawing visitors with its cool mountain climate, stunning architecture, and entertainment experiences. Once a French colonial retreat, it has been transformed into a top-tier resort and amusement park. The most iconic feature here is the Golden Bridge, held up by giant stone hands, offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

In this Golden Bridge and Ba Na Hills travel guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know before your visit, including how to get there, ticket prices, must-see attractions, dining options, and essential travel tips. Whether you're a first-time visitor or returning for another adventure, this guide will help you make the most of your trip.

Introduction of Golden Bridge and Ba Na Hills

If you’re visiting central Vietnam, you’ve probably seen photos of the Golden Bridge—a massive golden walkway held up by two giant stone hands, floating above the misty mountains. It’s one of the most famous landmarks in Vietnam and a must-see for travelers coming to Da Nang. But the bridge is just one part of the bigger attraction: Ba Na Hills, a unique mountaintop amusement park.

Ba Na Hills started as a French colonial retreat in 1919. The French built hotels, villas, and even a wine cellar here to escape the hot weather in the lowlands. Over time, the area was abandoned and left in ruins. Then, in the early 2000s, Sun Group transformed it into the Ba Na Hills Resort, creating an amusement park with European-style villages, gardens, and entertainment.

The Golden Bridge, built in 2018, became the star attraction. It was designed to look like “the hands of god” holding up the bridge. The structure quickly became a viral sensation, attracting visitors from all over the world.

If you’re in Da Nang or Hoi An, a visit to Golden Bridge and Ba Na Hills is a great addition to your itinerary. It’s fun, it’s different, and it gives you some of the most incredible mountain views in Vietnam. Just be prepared for the crowds and theme park atmosphere.

How to Get to Golden Bridge and Ba Na Hills?

Ba Na Hills is about 25 kilometers southwest of Da Nang, making it an easy day trip. The journey takes around 40-50 minutes by car. The entrance is at the base of the hills, where you’ll take the Ba Na Hills cable car to reach the attractions, including the famous Golden Bridge.

From Da Nang City

Private Car or Taxi—The easiest and most comfortable option. A round trip costs around 600,000–900,000 VND ($25-$40), depending on the provider.

Shuttle Bus – Some travel agencies and hotels offer shuttle services, usually costing 150,000 – 200,000 VND ($6-$8) per person.

Motorbike Rental—If you’re adventurous, renting a motorbike is an option. Expect to pay 150,000–200,000 VND ($6-$8) for a day’s rental. However, the roads leading to Ba Na Hills are steep and winding, so this is only recommended for experienced riders.

From Hoi An

You can take a private car (1.5-hour drive), a tour bus, or rent a motorbike. Tours from Hoi An typically cost 1,000,000–1,500,000 VND ($40-$60) and include transportation, entrance tickets, and a guide.

Once you arrive, you’ll take the Ba Na Hills cable car—one of the longest and highest cable car rides in the world. It takes about 20-25 minutes to reach the top, and the views are breathtaking. On a clear day, you’ll see lush forests, waterfalls, and Da Nang city in the distance.

  • Walk through Saint Denis Church—a replica of the famous one in Paris.

  • Dine at one of the mountain view restaurants.

  • Catch a street performance by costumed entertainers.

Le Jardin D’Amour—The Romantic Flower Gardens

Best spot: The Love Garden is a favorite for couples!

Fantasy Park—Vietnam’s Largest Indoor Amusement Park

Best time to visit: After lunch (to escape the midday heat)

This three-story indoor theme park has over 105 free games, including arcade games, bumper cars, 4D cinemas, and adventure rides. It’s great if you’re visiting with kids or just want some fun.

Must-try rides:

  • Jurassic Park Zone – Walk through life-sized dinosaur models.

  • 4D & 5D Cinemas – Interactive movie experiences.

Tip: The queue gets long, so do this early in the day or after 3 PM.

Linh Ung Pagoda & Giant Buddha

Best time to visit: Afternoon for a peaceful vibe

A tranquil temple featuring a white Buddha statue sitting atop a hill, overlooking the mountains. It’s a great place to take a break and soak in the spiritual atmosphere.

Best Time to Visit Golden Bridge and Ba Na Hills

Best Seasons to Visit

Ba Na Hills has a cool climate year-round due to its high altitude (1,487 meters above sea level), but some months are better than others.

March to May (Spring)—Best Time to Visit

  • Pleasant temperatures (15–25°C), clear skies, and blooming flowers make this the best season.
  • The Golden Bridge looks stunning under clear blue skies.
  • Crowds are moderate, especially if you visit on weekdays.

September to November (Autumn)—Second Best Time

  • Weather is cool and dry, with fewer tourists than in spring.
  • Great for photography because of the misty mornings and golden sunsets.

December to February (Winter) – Cold & Foggy

  • Temperatures drop to 5–15°C, and thick fog often covers the Golden Bridge.
  • Magical atmosphere if you like misty, moody landscapes, but not ideal for clear views.
  • May get crowded during lunar new years (January-February)

June to August (Summer) – Most Crowded & Hot

  • Peak season due to school holidays in Vietnam.
  • Long queues at the cable cars and attractions.
  • The temperature is around 20–30°C, but it can feel hotter due to humidity and crowds.

Best Time of Day to Visit

  • Early Morning (Before 9 AM)—Best for photography and avoiding crowds. The Golden Bridge is quiet and the air is fresh.

  • Midday (10 AM – 2 PM) – Busiest time, with long waits for the cable car and attractions. Avoid if possible.

  • Late Afternoon (After 3 PM)—Good for a more relaxed visit, with fewer tourists after day-trippers leave.

Practical Tips

Buy Your Tickets in Advance

Lines at the ticket counter can be long, so book online through the official Sun World website or travel agencies. If you book a Ba Na Hills tour from Da Nang, it often includes hotel pickup, tickets, and lunch, making the trip easier.

Visit on a Weekday

Weekends and public holidays are extremely crowded with both locals and tourists. If you can, visit Tuesday to Thursday for a more enjoyable experience.

Dress for Changing Weather

  • Mornings and evenings are cool (bring a light jacket).
  • Midday can be sunny, so wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
  • Comfortable walking shoes are a must because there’s a lot of walking involved.

Expect Some Fog and Rain

Even in the dry season, fog can roll in suddenly, especially in the morning. This creates a mystical atmosphere but might block the views. Bring a raincoat or small umbrella if visiting in the rainy months (October–January).

Consider a Private Driver or Tour

If you're traveling with family or a group, hiring a private car from Da Nang (instead of taking a taxi) is more convenient and cost-effective. A guided tour can help you skip lines and learn more about the attractions.

Bring a Power Bank

You’ll be taking a lot of photos and videos, and there aren’t many places to charge your phone.
