5 Types Of Places To Visit In Vietnam
Oh, that title is completely misleading. When it comes to places to visit in Vietnam, it is so easy to get recommendations about a particular city or somewhere rather fancy featured in a myriad of articles on Google. However, it is another story here. We are going to introduce you to more general suggestions so that you will have at least an idea about where to go without having to persistently and arduously search for a particular Vietnamese restaurant or coffee shop you found on Google, and thus your options of things to do in Vietnam become more open.
Vietnamese coffee shops
Undoubtedly, Vietnam has one of the most abundant coffee scenes in the world due to the fact that it is ranked second in the list of countries sorted by exportation. In the main cities such as Saigon, Hanoi, Da Nang, you can find a lot of better-than-Starbucks Vietnamese coffee shops (e.g., Trung Nguyen, Highlands, The Coffee House) where you can enjoy almost every kind of Vietnamese coffee that you have always dreamed of trying when visiting Vietnam. Trust me, the coffee scene here is fun; the shops are usually well-decorated with good music in the air, you must be falling in love with it, I guess. And yes, it is so easy to find these places.
Vietnamese Restaurants
Vietnamese restaurants are also somewhere you should drop in when visiting Vietnam. Just like coffee shops, you can just go outside and pick any Vietnamese restaurant and try all the food there! Vietnamese food is renowned for its use of many spices and for making you want to eat again and again and again. You can look at the list of five most iconic Vietnamese foods here.
Old, abandoned, and not-so-dilapidated apartments
Trust me; I used to be very surprised when people said that they wanted to explore old and sometimes even squalid apartment cities in Vietnam. But when I actually went there, my opinion changed. There is something really captivating about these old apartments; there is a hidden beauty, I guess, the more you look at these buildings, the more beautiful they become. So, grab your camera and try going to some apartments, maybe?
The suburbs
I have heard that many people want to go explore more "natural" places with few celestial buildings, but they tend to hesitate due to the lack of money to go somewhere that far. However, if you're currently staying in major cities in Vietnam, you still have a chance to fulfill your desire by taking a trip to suburban and less-crowded districts in Ho Chi Minh City. The hindmost parts of districts 2 and 9, district Thu Duc, and District 12 seem to be the best option. Due to the low civilization here, in these districts, you can still go visit places that are quiet and peaceful, just as on your Vietnam tours in the countryside. Get on google map right now.
The cities in Vietnam at midnight
Hanoi and Saigon are perfect examples of busy cities. Unlike New York City, a city that "never sleeps," it is surprisingly quiet at midnight in these cities. For instance, if you feel like going out at around 12 PM, you will see an entirely different side of these cities; it is so quiet at this time, with no noisy vehicles and no people yelling and talking continuously. Wandering around the cities in Vietnam at this time makes you feel emotionally profound; you have the time to spend on the thought of your inner self, and you have the time to enjoy the beauty of a quieter Saigon. Isn't that the greatest thing after a long day exploring the places in Vietnam?
