15 Days in Vietnam from North to South – The Dupuis Family
A Family Trip Full of Memories!
Participants: Parents (40 & 42) + 2 children (8 & 11)
Travel period: April 2025
Itinerary: Hanoi – Ninh Binh – Halong Bay – Hue – Hoi An – Mekong Delta – Ho Chi Minh City
Overall experience: 9.5/10
An unforgettable, well-paced journey! Everything was smooth thanks to the local agency Vietnam Original Travel, which perfectly customized the itinerary for our family. The kids loved it, and we discovered a rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and amazing cuisine.
Northern Vietnam: Hanoi, Ninh Binh & Halong Bay
Hanoi (2 nights): We loved the Old Quarter and the water puppet show. A family cooking class with a market visit was a highlight!
Ninh Binh (1 night): Spectacular scenery at Tam Coc and an unforgettable boat ride rowed by foot!
Halong Bay (2 days/1 night): A well-organized luxury cruise. The kids enjoyed kayaking and spotting monkeys in hidden coves.
Highlights: Perfect organization, stunning landscapes
Note: Hanoi is noisy—watch out for scooters when crossing the streets!
Central Vietnam: Hue & Hoi An
Hue (1 night): The Imperial City under the rain—our guide made it fascinating. A dragon boat cruise on the Perfume River was lovely.
Hoi An (3 nights): Our favorite place! Lantern-lit old town, An Bang beach by bike, and a lantern-making class for the kids. We even had tailor-made clothes done!
Highlights: Magical atmosphere, relaxing vibe
Note: Hue deserves more time for history lovers.
Southern Vietnam: Mekong Delta & Ho Chi Minh City
Mekong Delta (1 night with locals): Immersive experience—cycling, cooking with a host family, colorful floating market.
Ho Chi Minh City (2 nights): Modern city, striking contrast. The War Remnants Museum was moving and educational, even for the kids. The Cu Chi tunnels were impressive!
Highlights: Authentic Mekong life, North–South contrasts
Note: Very hot in Saigon in April.
Vietnamese Cuisine
One of the best parts of the trip! Fresh, diverse, and flavorful—yet mild enough for the kids.
Favorites: Pho in Hanoi, Banh Xeo in Hoi An, and grilled fish in the Mekong. We even brought back a few recipes!
Traveling with Kids in Vietnam
Vietnam is perfect for families! Locals are incredibly kind to children. Everything was family-friendly—reasonable distances, hotels with pools, varied activities (cycling, boating, handicraft workshops…). Our kids never got bored!
“Vietnam amazed us with its diversity, kindness, and authenticity. Every day was a different adventure. It’s a trip we’ll never forget – and one we recommend to all families!”
