The Best Time to Travel to Vietnam

The best time to travel to Vietnam is always an important issue to consider before any trip. The climate and weather in Vietnam change seasonally, and the tourist season in Vietnam is diverse. Therefore, this article provides useful information about the weather, and atmosphere in Vietnam as well as the best time to visit this beautiful country.

1. Climate characteristics in Vietnam

Being a beautiful S-shaped strip of land, stretching nearly 1650 km from North to South, Vietnam is located in the tropical and tropical monsoon climate zone, with sunshine, abundant rainfall, and high humidity. Some places near the Tropic of Cancer or high mountains have a temperate climate.

The average annual temperature is from 22 to 27 degrees Celsius, very suitable for tourists. However, the average temperature in each place is different, Hanoi is 23 degrees Celsius, Ho Chi Minh City is 26 degrees Celsius, and Hue is 25 degrees Celsius.

Vietnam's climate has two distinct seasons, the dry and cold season (from November to April next year), and the hot rainy season (from May to October). The most obvious seasonal temperature changes in the northern provinces, where the climate changes four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. In the southern provinces, the temperature difference between seasons is about 30 degrees Celsius.

2. What is the best month to visit Vietnam?

Vietnam tourism is growing day by day, and Vietnam welcomes tourists every day. However, the best time to visit Vietnam is April and May because in these 2 months, the weather in Vietnam is very nice, dry, and very convenient for traveling.

During these months, tourists can go to some northern destinations such as Sapa, Moc Chau, Mai Chau, and Cao Bang because this is the time when these places have warm sunshine during the day, and green trees after spring, so you can enjoy all the beauty of these places.

In addition, thanks to the warm weather it is the best time to visit Lan Ha Bay, or the dreamy Hue or go to the misty Da Lat, and so on. It can be seen that almost every destination in Vietnam in April and May always welcome tourists with the most perfect beauty.

3. When is the best time to travel to Northern Vietnam?

January and February : the Red River Delta is cool (average 16.5°C in Hanoi) and drizzle sometimes lasts for several days. Therefore, there is very little sunshine, but this is the right time for visitors who do not like the heat.

March to June : This period is quite sunny and the temperature increases gradually. Heat waves were observed in May and June.

July to September : This is the rainy season, marked by intermittent showers of rain in a very hot and very humid atmosphere. The rains can last from 5 minutes to several hours, usually falling late in the day.

October and November : This is autumn, considered the most beautiful season with sunshine and pleasant temperatures.

Therefore, the best time to visit this area is from October to November because of the pleasant atmosphere, however, the harvest season is over. Traveling to the Northwest at this time has also attracted many tourists who love the natural beauty of the mountains with majestic white waterfalls and ripe golden terraced rice fields. Not only possessing overwhelming natural beauty, but the Northwest also attracts visitors from far away with its unique and rustic cuisine, with the typical flavor of the mountains and forests.

4. What is the best time to visit Central Vietnam?

June and July : During this period, the temperature in Central Vietnam is very high, up to 40°C in the sun. However, if you stay at the coastal resorts in Vietnam (Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang), the beach will be a great place to cool off.

July to November : Floods often come at this time, affecting both tourism and people's lives. Therefore, people often avoid traveling to Central Vietnam at this time of year.

The best time to visit the central region of Vietnam is from January to April. During this period, Hoi An - the city of Venice in Vietnam is cool in the spring, with little rain and mild sunshine. Visitors can explore the beauty of Cua Dai beach with its long and high rows of coconut trees, take countless virtual pictures in My Son Sanctuary or go to Hoi An night market to enjoy delicious food and buy gifts for relatives and friends.

Moreover, traveling to Nha Trang from January to April will be a great experience for all visitors. The weather at this time is relatively pleasant, there is no harsh sun and no showers that affect the fun. Tourists have countless attractive choices such as Hon Tre Nha Trang, Cam Ranh tourism, Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography, Thap Ba Ponagar, etc. Don't forget to enjoy fresh seafood, especially crab dishes.

5. When is the best time to travel to Southern Vietnam?

September to April : This is the dry season, with almost no rain, and the highest temperature is about 39°C in Ho Chi Minh City. This is also the most favorable season to sunbathe on the beaches of Phu Quoc Island or on the coast.

May to September : This is the rainy season in which showers are expected later in the day and humidity is at a maximum. It was during this period that the Mekong Delta revealed its richness.

The best time to visit the South of Vietnam is from December to mid-February. The reason is that while the North of Vietnam is experiencing the cold of winter in December, the South, especially Saigon is still basking in the warm sun. In particular, this period is also the time when many exciting events and festivals take place, so this is the most ideal time for you to visit.

Some ideal destinations for visitors to the South at this time are Ho Chi Minh City and Mekong Delta offering top 10 things to do in the South of Vietnam including Tra Su Cajuput Forest, Tan Lap Floating Village - Long An, Tram Chim National Park - Dong Thap, Phu Quoc, and so on. In particular, this is the most beautiful time of the year in Tra Su Cajuput Forest, visitors will be able to relax with the green nature, experience the feeling of sitting on a boat through the straight rows of Melaleuca trees, turning the layers of green duckweed on the calm, peaceful water.
