Responsible Tourism in Vietnam

At Vietnam Original Travel, our commitment to sustainable tourism in Vietnam has never been a marketing strategy or a passing trend. It is a conviction — almost a moral duty. Most of us come from the Vietnamese countryside, where life follows the rhythm of nature, traditions, and human connection. We understand what tourism can bring when done right — and what it can destroy if left unchecked. From the very beginning, we have chosen a mindful, respectful, fair, and community-driven approach to travel.

A Philosophy Guided by Five Founding Pillars

1. Preserving and Promoting Cultural and Natural Heritage

We design immersive journeys that bring travelers closer to local communities while respecting their customs, environment, and way of life. Every trip is crafted to preserve cultural authenticity while offering travelers deep and meaningful human experiences.

2. Supporting the Local Economy and Ensuring Fair Redistribution of Benefits

We work directly with artisans, local guides, host families, and rural cooperatives. By prioritizing homestays, homemade meals, and traditional workshops, we ensure that local people truly benefit from tourism. Each activity is designed as a win-win exchange — enriching both culturally and economically.

3. Managing Tourism Flows Responsibly

To minimize impact and enhance the quality of experiences, we organize private or small-group tours. This approach allows more intimate immersion, reduces pressure on local resources, and helps distribute visitors across lesser-known destinations.

4. Encouraging Eco-Friendly Travel and Low-Impact Activities

Hiking, cycling, rowing, cooking classes, and daily life participation — we emphasize non-polluting, immersive activities. The goal: slow down, live the present moment, and discover Vietnam’s beauty in harmony with nature.

5. Partnering Only with Those Who Share Our Values

We collaborate exclusively with partners who uphold ethics, solidarity, and environmental respect. Each partnership is built on a shared vision of responsible tourism — where quality outweighs quantity and humanity remains at the heart of every journey.

The Vietnam Original Travel Foundation: Concrete Action on the Ground

Our commitment goes beyond sustainable trip design. We created the Vietnam Original Travel Foundation to support long-term social, educational, and environmental projects.

Sponsoring Mountain Schools

In remote areas such as Mu Cang Chai, Mai Chau, and Hoang Su Phi, we renovate schools and communal kitchens, and distribute school supplies and warm clothes for children during winter. These initiatives are made possible thanks to our travelers’ solidarity.

Pioneering Eco-Tourism Projects

To revitalize isolated regions while preserving their cultural identity, we’ve developed eco-tourism initiatives in Hoang Su Phi (Ha Giang), Mai Chau, and Tra Vinh (Mekong Delta).

We built eco-friendly accommodations — Hoang Su Phi LodgeMai Chau Serenity, and Mekong Garden Resort — in close collaboration with local villagers. Constructed from natural materials like earth, wood, and thatch, these lodges blend harmoniously into their surroundings with limited capacity to maintain local balance.

Community-Based And Participatory Tourism

From these lodges, travelers explore on foot with local guides and stay with host families. We’ve also established an organic garden and provide financial support for children’s education. This is a form of slow, human-centered travel that builds lasting connections without disrupting the local ecosystem or social fabric.

Traveling Differently Is Possible — and Necessary

Our belief is simple: travel should be a responsible act. Beyond discovery, it can be a powerful driver for development, mutual understanding, and environmental protection.

By choosing Vietnam Original Travel, you are doing more than taking a trip — you are contributing to a meaningful vision of tourism, at a human pace and in harmony with nature.

Together, let’s continue making Vietnam a forward-looking destination — where every journey enriches both travelers and local communities.
