The Sapa Trekking Tour Itinerary 12 Days allows you to fully discover Hanoi, experience an overnight cruise in Ha Long, and explore the stories of beautiful Ninh Binh, as well as trek to the amazing mountain scenery of Sapa, passing through villages with homestay experiences in ethnic minority villages.

Day 1: Hanoi arrival 

Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, you will be welcomed by our guide and transferred to the city center for hotel check-in. Take your time to relax or have a first-hand exploration of the current capital of Vietnam. Have your own meals and overnight at a hotel in Hanoi.

 

Day 2: Hanoi—Discovering the capital 

After breakfast, start your walking tour discovery:

• Hoan Kiem Lake, Turtle Island and Ngoc Son Temple • Opera House • Legend Metropole Hotel • St. Joseph's Cathedral • Hanoi Old Quarter • Bach Ma Temple • Quan Su Pagoda • Long Bien Bridge

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and in the afternoon, visit the Museum of Ethnography, which helps you to discover in depth the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 3: Hanoi - Discovery - Lao Cai - Sapa

Pick up at your hotel for a full-day tour of Hanoi, a blend of the modern with the mystery and charm of past centuries. Hanoi offers an air of elegance and harmony with nature. Today’s sightseeing begins with a visit Ba Dinh Square to see Ho Chi Minh’s soleum, a mu museum to his life and the simple cottage where he lived and worked

Then also visit Van Mieu–Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), which dates back to 1070 and is dedicated to the cult of Confucius.

Lunch, Later, take a cyclo ride through where the famous silk street is located

In the evening, you will see the water puppet show, one of the unique arts in Vietnam

After that, Transfer to the Hanoi railway for an overnight train to Lao Cai in an A/C soft cabin.

 

Day 4: Sapa trekking—Ma Tra—Ta Phin 

6:00, Arrive at Lao Cai Station, and check in at a hotel nearby for a shower, a rest and breakfast.

Then, head out to Ma Tra and Ta Phin ethnic villages through the mountain roads filled with fabulous landscapes: beautiful valleys, sumptuous rice terraces, authentic ethnic villages ... Upon arrival in Ta Phin village, check in at a traditional home of the Daos.

Then, start hiking in its most beautiful areas, crossing the pine forest, rice terraces, and ethnic H'mong and Daos.    Enjoy a picnic lunch at the edge of rice fields or at a homestay.

In the afternoon, keep trekking to explore the beautiful landscapes before getting back for dinner. Stay 1 night with the Daos in Ta Phin Village.

 

Day 5: Ta Phin - Xa Xeng - Hau Thao - Giang Ta Chai 

Having breakfast at the homestay, being transferred to Xa Xeng’s trekking point, and crossing dense forests and friendly people at the ethnic groups of H'mongs, Daos ...

Arrive at Hau Thao Village, where you enjoy beautiful panoramic views over the Muong Hoa Valley—the most beautiful valley in Sapa. Enjoy your picnic lunch at your homestay. And trek through the rice terraces fields and ethnic villages, and discover the daily life and unique cultures of minorities.

Dinner and overnight with a local family.

 

Day 6: Giang Ta Chai - Supan - Ban Ho

After breakfast, hike through beautiful rice paddies and waterfalls. Visit the Red Dao and Black H'mong minority groups at Giang Ta Chai Village. Enjoy your picnic lunch and/or have lunch at a homestay. Continuation of the treks through fabulous landscapes and arrival at the bottom of Muong Hoa Valley, where Dzays living in houses on stilts discover the life of the minorities. Keep trekking to Ban Ho Village, home to the Tay ethnic group. Dinner and overnight at the Tays' stilt house.

 

Day 7: Ban Ho - Nam Toong - Nam Keng - Nam Xai - Thanh Phu

Having breakfast, trek from Ban Ho Village (Tays) to Nam Toong Village (Daos).

Lunch at a local family and continue your trekking to Nam Sai Village (Xa Pho) to discover the daily life of this small ethnic community. Next, visit Thanh Kim Village (Tays). Dinner and overnight at a homestay in Thanh Phu.

 

Day 8: Thanh Phu - Sin Chai A & B - Thanh Phu 

After having breakfast, trek to Sin Chai A Village and Sin Chai B Village, the beautiful ethnic villages that are not far from Sapa. Having lunch and trekking through the forest to the village of the Tay ethnic group. Discover their life and daily activities. Dinner and overnight at the homestay in Thanh Phu.

 

Day 9: Thanh Phu - Sapa - Lao Cai - Hanoi 

Having breakfast, trek through the villages of Tays and Daos people. Enjoy your picnic lunch, and trek in the heart of the forest to the Tays Village in Thanh Phu. Return to Sapa and transfer to Lao Cai train station for an overnight train to Hanoi.

 

Day 10: Hanoi - Ninh Binh - Ha Long on land 

Depart for a nice trip to Hoa Lu, one of the most famous sites for its rich and impressive limestone peaks. Visit two Temples of the Dinh and Le Kings, dating from the 10th century. Enjoy a sampan ride and discover the Trang An Caves.

After lunch, visit Thai Vy Temple for a view of Tam Coc and its surroundings. Then cycle through the villages to Tam Coc and Bich Dong Pagoda and discover many karsts and rice paddies. Return to Hanoi in the late afternoon. Have Dinner and transfer to Hanoi and stay one night.

 

Day 11: Ninh Binh - Ha Long - Overnight on boat 

After breakfast, depart for Halong Bay. You will be arriving at the pier around noon and embarking on a luxury junk for a memorable cruise in Halong Bay. Enjoy lunch with fresh seafood. In the afternoon, visit Bai Tu Long Bay and also visit Vong Vieng Floating Village.

Back to junk for swimming. Then, transfer to Dong Tien Lake.

Your dinner is served with fresh seafood and an overnight on the junk.

 

Day 12: Ha Long - But Thap pagoda - Hanoi - Departure 

After breakfast, discover the natural cave—Surprise Cave—one of the most beautiful caves. Having brunch on board and cruising back to the pier. Enjoy your road trip to Bac Ninh Province to visit But Thap Pagoda—one of the most famous pagodas in Vietnam.  Transfer to Hanoi airport for your flight back home.
