Where to Buy Clothes in Vietnam: Cheap, Wholesale, Tailor-Made and More

Vietnam is probably best known for its beautiful landscapes, friendly people, and delicious food. Most people visit to explore ancient towns, sandy beaches, and cities rich in culture. But not many travelers realize that Vietnam is also a great place for shopping, especially for clothes. From stylish local brands to handmade traditional outfits and affordable tailor-made suits, there is something for every style and budget here.

If you are wondering Where to buy clothes in Vietnam, this guide will take you through all the best places, give you honest advice, and help you shop like a pro during your trip.

Is it worth buying clothes in Vietnam?

If you like affordable fashion, custom-made clothes, or unique local designs, then buying clothes in Vietnam is definitely worth it! We think Vietnam is one of the best places in Asia for shopping because you get a lot of variety at very good prices.

If you like international brands, you can find them easily in malls, sometimes cheaper than in other countries, but not always. Local brands are also stylish and getting better every year. If you want something special, Vietnam is great for handmade clothes, ao dai, ethnic textiles, and custom tailoring.

The quality can be a bit mixed, though. You need to check what you buy carefully, especially at markets and small shops. But if you spend a little time looking, you can find great pieces at a fraction of the price you would pay back home.

We always recommend leaving some space in your suitcase when traveling to Vietnam, as you will probably buy more clothes than you plan to.

Where to buy clothes from international brands

In the big cities like Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang, you will find most international fashion brands. Big shopping malls are the easiest places to find them. Some of the main malls you should visit are Vincom Centers, Saigon Centre, Crescent Mall (Ho Chi Minh City), Lotte Center (Hanoi), and Aeon Malls (both Hanoi and Saigon).

You will see stores like Zara, H&M, Uniqlo, Mango, and Pull&Bear inside these malls. Based on our experience, prices at these stores in Vietnam are similar to prices in other countries. Sometimes, they can even be slightly higher because of taxes and import costs. So if you are asking yourself, "Is Zara in Vietnam cheaper?" the answer is no, it is not cheaper than in Europe or America. If you are from another Asian country, the price might feel a little better, but not by much.

Sales do happen during big shopping seasons like Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) and Christmas. If you happen to be in Vietnam during these times, you can find good deals, but they are still not as cheap as local brands.

Where to buy clothes from local brands

Vietnam has many local fashion brands that are stylish, good quality, and much cheaper than international labels. If you want something different and made with more personality, you should definitely check out these names:

NEM: If you like elegant and office-style clothes, NEM is a great choice. They are known for dresses, suits, and stylish outfits that feel a little more high-end. Prices are higher compared to some other local brands, but the quality feels better too.

IVY Moda: This is one of the most famous Vietnamese fashion brands. They sell modern, trendy clothes for both work and everyday wear. You will find everything from dresses and blazers to jeans and T-shirts. We have visited several IVY Moda stores and feel that their designs are very polished and professional. Prices are mid-range, and they often have big sales during the year.

FANCì Club: If you are young and love bold fashion, you should not miss FANCì Club. Their designs are fun, edgy, and very Instagram-friendly. We like that they are not afraid to be different. You can find unique streetwear looks here that you won’t find in normal malls. Prices are a little higher than usual streetwear brands in Vietnam, but you are paying for creativity.

LUU DAN: LUU DAN is a luxury Vietnamese brand with a very strong personality. They focus on dark, artistic designs, and you can see the craftsmanship in every piece. We think LUU DAN is perfect for someone who loves fashion and wants something really special. Be ready to pay a premium though, as it is not cheap.

MOI DIEN STUDIOS: For those who like minimalism with a twist, MOI DIEN STUDIOS is a great pick. Their designs are simple but have smart details that make them stand out. They offer pieces that are easy to wear but still feel a little different from normal street fashion. Prices are quite fair for the quality you get.

You can find most of these brands in their own showrooms or online. From what we have seen, Vietnamese local brands are getting better every year. If you are looking for something unique and want to support local creativity, spend some time visiting these brand stores. You might find clothes that become your favorites long after your trip ends.

Where to buy clothes made in Vietnam

Vietnam is a major manufacturing hub for many big brands around the world. Many factories here make clothes for names like Nike, Adidas, North Face, and Levi’s. Because of that, you can find Made in Vietnam products at much better prices.

Here are the best places to look:

M2 Stores: If you want more organized shopping, M2 is a good option. They have branches in Hanoi and some other cities. M2 sells a lot of factory-made clothing, including leftover export products, at very reasonable prices. We personally find M2 very convenient when you don’t want to bargain too much but still want to get affordable clothes.

Viet Brothers (Hanoi): This shop is popular for export clothing, including outdoor gear and casual wear. They focus more on leftover and authentic products from local factories. It’s a good place if you are looking for clothes that are durable and affordable.

Local Boutiques: Some small shops, especially around District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City or the Old Quarter in Hanoi, offer clothes that are made by small Vietnamese factories. Prices are fair and styles are quite modern.

Note: Always check for real “Made in Vietnam” tags and inspect the items for small defects before buying.

Where to buy wholesale clothes in Vietnam

If you want to buy clothes in bulk or just want really cheap prices, Vietnam has many wholesale markets and areas where shops sell clothes by the dozen. Even if you only buy a few pieces, many of these places offer lower prices than normal stores. They’re also great if you want to buy winter clothes at a cheap price.

An Dong Market (Ho Chi Minh City): This is one of the best places for wholesale fashion. You will find floors full of clothes, from basic T-shirts to dresses, jackets, and jeans. Many shop owners from other cities come here to buy in bulk. You can buy a single piece, but if you buy three or more, you usually get a better deal.

Tan Binh Market (Ho Chi Minh City): Another large market famous for cheap clothes, especially for men’s, women’s, and children’s fashion. It is a little messy, and you have to dig around, but the prices are some of the lowest you will find.

Ninh Hiep Market (Hanoi): Located about 20km from the center of Hanoi, this is the biggest wholesale clothing market in Northern Vietnam. If you have time, it’s worth a visit. Many shopkeepers in Hanoi buy their stock from here. You can find everything from sportswear to casual clothes at low prices.

Dong Xuan Market (Hanoi): Right in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Dong Xuan Market sells both retail and wholesale. It is busy, noisy, and crowded, but if you are patient, you can find great deals on T-shirts, jackets, jeans, and even traditional clothes like ao dai.

Our advice: When you shop at wholesale markets, be ready to bargain hard. Start by offering half the price they give you and work from there. Also, bring cash, because most sellers don't accept cards.

Where to buy clothes online in Vietnam

If you don't have time to visit markets and malls, shopping online in Vietnam is easy and fast. Many brands and marketplaces offer clothes with home delivery.

Shopee and Lazada: These two are the biggest e-commerce platforms in Vietnam. You can find everything from cheap T-shirts to luxury items. Shopee often has daily sales and free shipping deals. Be careful though; always read reviews and check seller ratings to avoid buying low-quality products.

Online stores of local brands: Brands and shops always have their own websites or social media. You can order directly from there. Delivery is usually fast (1–3 days inside the country).

Our advice: When shopping online, check the size chart carefully. Vietnamese sizing tends to run smaller than in Western countries. If you are unsure between two sizes, it’s safer to pick the larger one.

Where to buy thrifted clothes in Vietnam

If you love secondhand shopping, Vietnam has a growing thrift culture, and you can find amazing pieces for very cheap prices. We love exploring these places because you never know what hidden gems you might find.

Dong Tac Market (Hanoi): This is one of the oldest thrift markets in Hanoi. It looks messy at first, but if you take your time, you can find cheap jeans, jackets, vintage T-shirts, and even branded clothes. Prices are super low, but you need to dig through piles to find the good stuff.

The Twenty Seven Klub (Hanoi): Located on Dao Duy Tu Street, this small shop sells selected vintage clothes, mostly streetwear. The vibe is young, creative, and very cool. Prices here are higher than traditional markets, but the quality and style are better too.

Vintage Hearts (Hanoi and Saigon): One of the best-known vintage shops in Vietnam. They have two locations, and both are organized and easy to browse. You can find everything from 90s denim jackets to vintage dresses. We like shopping here because they curate their collection carefully, so you don’t waste time digging through bad items.

Mayhem Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City): This shop is very popular with young people who love Y2K and retro styles. You can find colorful shirts, unique skirts, and old-school sneakers. Prices are not "market cheap," but still much cheaper than buying new branded clothes.

Our advice: Go early in the day when the shops are tidier and you have the best selection. Also, check carefully for stains or small tears before buying, because most stores don’t accept returns.

Where to buy traditional Vietnamese clothing

If you want to bring home something truly Vietnamese, buying traditional clothes is a great idea.

Ao Dai

The ao dai is Vietnam’s most famous traditional outfit. It is a long, slim dress worn over pants. You can buy ready-made ao dai in shops around tourist areas in Hanoi, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City. If you want a custom ao dai (which we highly recommend), many tailor shops can make one in 2–3 days. Prices for ready-made ao dai start around 500,000 VND ($20), and custom ones can range from $40 to $100, depending on the fabric and design.

Silk

Vietnam is famous for its silk, and you can buy beautiful silk dresses, scarves, and shirts. In Hanoi, head to Hang Gai Street (also called Silk Street). In Hoi An, silk tailor shops are everywhere. We personally love visiting Van Phuc Silk Village (just a bit outside of Hanoi city center), where you can also see how silk is made before shopping.

Handmade textiles

Vietnam’s ethnic groups have been creating beautiful handmade textiles using traditional techniques for generations. These items make great souvenirs and gifts. You can find embroidered jackets, bags, scarves, and even handwoven fabrics to make your own clothes. You can find them in boutiques in town or at local weekly markets, especially in Sapa or Ha Giang.

Where is the best place to get clothes made in Vietnam?

Vietnam is famous for custom tailoring. Getting clothes made here is easy, fast, and much cheaper than in Western countries.

Hoi An: This is the most famous place in Vietnam for tailor-made clothes. You can get suits, dresses, shirts, and even leather shoes made within 24–72 hours. Among the tailors in Hoi An, Yaly CoutureBeBe Tailor, and Kimmy Tailor offer professional service and high-quality work. Prices for a custom suit start around $120–$200, and dresses start at $40.

Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City: Both cities also have good tailor shops. In Hanoi, visit shops around Hang Gai Street or inside the Old Quarter. In Ho Chi Minh City, tailors in District 1 are easy to find.

Our advice: Bring photos of what you want, and be clear about the details. Also, if you have enough time, schedule two fittings to make sure everything fits perfectly.

Tips for buying clothes in Vietnam

Buying clothes in Vietnam is fun, but a few tips will help you avoid problems and get better deals.

Haggling: Bargaining is normal at markets and small shops. If you don’t haggle, you will almost always pay more. A good rule is to start by offering about half the price they first tell you. Stay polite and smile while bargaining. If they don't agree, you can walk away; often they will call you back with a better price.

Check the Quality: Always check seams, zippers, buttons, and fabric carefully before you pay. Some clothes at markets look good at first but may not last long after washing.

Best Time to Buy: Try to shop in the morning if you can. Markets and shops are less crowded early in the day.

Bring Cash: Most markets and small shops only accept cash. Vietnamese Dong (VND) is preferred.

Know Your Size: Vietnamese clothing sizes are usually smaller than Western sizes. Always try clothes on if possible. If shopping online, check the size chart carefully and read customer reviews.

Beware of Fakes: Vietnam has a lot of fake branded clothes. At markets like Saigon Square or Dong Xuan, you will see "Nike," "Adidas," and "North Face"—some are decent quality, some are not. If the price is too low, it’s not real. If you want authentic items, buy from official brand stores.

Custom Orders: If you want clothes tailor-made, plan for at least 2–3 days in one city. Some tailors can do it faster, but more time usually means better quality and a proper fitting.

Seasonal Sales: Big shopping malls like Vincom, Lotte, and Aeon often have major sales during holidays like Tet (Vietnamese New Year), summer sales in June–July, and Black Friday in November. If you are in Vietnam at these times, it’s a great chance to save even more.

Conclusion

Now you know the best answers to "Where to buy clothes in Vietnam," from malls and local boutiques to tailor shops and thrift markets. Shopping here can be one of the most fun parts of your trip if you know where to look and how to buy smart.
