Top Things That Make Vietnam’s Hidden Gem Worth Visiting - Quy Nhon

Having a natural-gifted geographic location, Vietnam is famous for its chain of beautiful coastal cities. Quy Nhon city is one of the most attractive destinations in that chain, where the greatness of natural beaches and landscapes blend with the friendly lifestyles of local people. For eager-to-visit tourists, here are top 10 things to do in Quy Nhon

Overview

Quy Nhon is the city of Binh Dinh province, which is located in the central area of Vietnam. In recent years, with the development of infrastructure, traveling to Quy Nhon has been much more convenient by offering various transportation means including road, air, and railway traffic. There are many things to do in Quy Nhon ranging from exploring nature to discovering cultural activities and promising to provide such memorable experiences for tourists.

Top 10 things to do in Quy Nhon

1. Swimming and Exploring Coral in Ky Co beach

Coming to Quy Nhon Vietnam without paying a visit to Ky Co beach is a shortcoming. Ky Co has recently been operated, or a “newborn” beach, so this beach still keeps its own wildly natural beauty. The cold-and-blue water along with smooth-and-white sand creates a charming scenery that can appeal to even the most irritable tourists.

Rocks in Ky Co arrange in a unique way of undulating small and big rocks together, creating “natural swimming pools” for a fantastic soaking experience. After water activities by the shore, visitors can enjoy the fresh seafood prepared in “100%-local” ways by local fishermen living nearby. For those who are adventurous, a coral trip to Bai Dua beach is also time-worthy. Preparing with full snorkeling equipment and then enjoying the lively and colorful marine life under the water.

2. Camping in Nhon Hai Fishing Village

Located not far from Quy Nhon city (about 10 kilometers), Nhon Hai Fishing Village is a haven for both nature enthusiasts and leisure travelers seeking peaceful experiences. Reaching Nhon Hai, tourists can immediately indulge in breathtaking scenery as this beautiful village lies between the clear blue sea and rocky mountains.

The gentle white sand is surely ideal for camping activities. Setting up the tent at about 4 to 5 p.m., tourists will have a chance to admire the golden sunset while breathing the cool breeze and ocean smell. Having dinner with fresh seafood and sweet potato grilled by the campfire would be amazing enough to take a trial.

3. Climbing Vung Chua Mountain

Vung Chua Mountain is a must-visit destination in Quy Nhon for being well-known as the city’s peak. From Vung Chua, visitors can get a bird’s-eye view of the whole coastal city, from the buildings to the natural landscape. The mountain height is about 600 meters from the sea level, giving a naturally fresh atmosphere for you to leave behind all of your daily pressure.

The scenery of Vung Chua changes at different moments of the day, which will certainly amaze visitors. During sunny days, Vung Chua appears in a full-of-energy mode under the blue sky and the green forests. And, during the cloudy days, the fog surrounding Vung Chua as well as the light cold air turns this mountain into “the second Da Lat”. Despite requiring quite noticeable efforts to move, the road leading to Vung Chua’s peak is becoming a hot check-in location among tourists.

4. Enjoying various local food

In addition to exploring pristine landscapes, trying the local food in Quy Nhon city is another valuable experience for every visitor. Honestly, it is hard to answer the question of “What to eat in Quy Nhon?” correctly due to the abundant cuisine culture here.

The top list specialty is fishball noodle soup. The fishball is made from fresh Quy Nhon fish, mixed with various local spices and cooked traditionally by local people. What distinguishes this soup from other fishball noodle soups is the fish bone broth adjusted with Quy Nhon fish sauce.

Another signature dish is shrimp pancake. Some locals said that the journey to Quy Nhon city is not fulfilled unless you try this crispy seafood pancake. The “Quy Nhon version” of shrimp pancake is that the color is white (not golden like the Southern style) and the size is much smaller. Dipping reddish-brown shrimps covered with brittle crust into the sweet fish sauce to enjoy the fully delicious taste.

5. Checking in Cu Lao Xanh (Van Phi Island)

Another name of Cu Lao Xanh is Van Phi island, which means greenery and vitality. Reaching Cu Lao Xanh, visitors can be fascinated as their eyes are covered in green, blue and white. Green from the natural forest and the coconut leaves; while blue from the pure sky, blue sea and white of sand dunes.

Apart from swimming, travelers can also take part in various water activities in Cu Lao Xanh, including seeking sea stars and catching lovely sea urchins. An important notice for newcomers is that Cu Lao Xanh is controlled by the Vietnamese military and used for army purposes so you need to bring your identification card.

6. Squid fishing

Have you ever thought about fishing for squid? Everyone can try this special challenge by visiting Quy Nhon. After sunset, local fishermen start to prepare their boat baskets for the squid fishing journeys. Tourists then take part in the journey to observe or even join hands in the catching squid process. A mini dinner is served directly on the boat with the squid having just been caught.

7. Checking Twin Cham Tower

Quy Nhon city has a long historical development with the representative of Twin Cham Tower or Hung Hanh Tower. This architecture was built from the end of the 10th Century to the beginning of the 15th Century, which is also the remarkably ups-and-downs period in Champa kingdom.

The uniqueness of the Twin Cham Tower in Quy Nhon was created by having only 2 towers instead of 3 like other Cham buildings. The four corners of each tower are decorated with the image of the god Garuda having two raised arms to show the strength of Champa culture. The northern tower has its wall supported by a giant lotus base made up of large rocks. The lotus center is decorated by using images of powerful symbols such as elephants, lions and dancers.

8. Parasailing water amusement

In recent years, parasailing water amusement has become a “hot trend” on Quy Nhon beaches. This adventurous activity can be explained as flying on a parachute linked to a boat surfing on the sea. In Quy Nhon, parasailing water amusements are served in most beaches, such as Ky Co, Hon Kho, Hoang Hau, etc. Flying freely in the sky and sightseeing underneath natural beauty must be a lifetime experience for those preferring thrilling exertion. The price for a parasailing trip is from 1 to 2 million VND per person.

9. Watching music water performance

Music water performance is one of the newest service activities in Quy Nhon city. The shows are created and designed by using the laser 3D and mapping D5 technology mixed logically with music, light effect, smoke, fire and water.

During the show, there is a display of landscapes across the country on a 2,500-inch screen. Hence, by watching the music water performance, visitors can have a view of Quy Nhon as well as the whole country and people of Vietnam.

10. Visiting Quang Trung museum

Quang Trung Museum has preserved important historical imprints of the famous Tay Son uprising and the three brothers: Nguyen Nhac – Nguyen Hue – Nguyen Lu. The museum was built with a structure of 9 rooms used for displaying and keeping more than 11,000 important artifacts related to the Tay Son uprising.

There is also the shrine of Tay Son Tam Kiet and famous generals close to the King built inside the museum. Located not far from the center of Quy Nhon city, Quang Trung Museum is an ideal destination for fans of history and culture to find out more about a Tay Son - Binh Dinh legendary.

These days, Quy Nhon city and its beach are not only well-known among Vietnamese tourists but also foreign ones. This seaside destination offers such vibrant marine life with colorful corals and abundant local cultural experiences, which give visitors the feeling of getting-away-from-it-all. The 10 activities mentioned above are not-to-miss things helping the journey to Quy Nhon greater and greater in every single moment.
