Hanoi – Mai Chau – Pu Luong - Trek to Kho Muong Village - Trek to Cao Hoong Village - Trek to Cao Village - Canh Nang Village – Mai Chau – Hanoi
Pu Luong Natural Reserve runs from north-west to south-east, and is divided by a central valley. From a high mountain pass, see Mai Chau valley, you surely want to set foot in the village soon. The stream flows through the village giving the scene more soft and poetic. The hardest trip in the tour will be the trek to Cao Village which will take you about 6 hours. The trek path runs uphill and downhill through forest, rice terraces and scenic villages. Cao village looks like a romance picture with the vast rice terraces that flickers some pretty small stilt houses hidden in the kitchen smoke in the late afternoon. Besides, grab great opportunity to visit Canh Nang village where the grand Ma River runs through. The river is so extremely majestic that it is written in poetry. Pu Luong trekking definitely will bring you memorial experiences during your journey.
Day 01: Hanoi – Mai Chau – Pu Luong
Depart from Hanoi to Pu Luong Natural Reserve via Mai Chau. This scenic drive takes around 4 hours. Along the way we pass fields of tapioca and sugar cane as well as rice paddies. You will reach Mai Chau valley at noon. Have Lunch at Pom Coong Village, then you will have another 22km to the reserve where you begin our trek. You trek for approximately 3 hours before arriving at Hang Village, which is home of Thai ethnic minority. You spend the night with a local Thai family who will be our hosts in a traditional house on stilt. You can stroll around the village to observe daily life activities of the locals. Have dinner and stay overnight at Thai’s family.
Day 02: Trek to Kho Muong Village
After breakfast at homestay. It is time to begin the big trek of the day. Today you are going to walk for around 6 hours on a rocky path running through jungle. Lunch stop will be in a village along the way. Then, you will pass through several Thai villages before arriving at Kho Muong Village. As the name suggested, this is a Muong minority’s village and we will be their guests for the night. Have dinner and stay overnight at Muong’s family.
Day 03: Trek to Cao Hoong Village
Have Breakfast at homestay. It is time to say goodbye to the family and you will have a full day trek as you climb to the Pu Luong range. On the road, you pass through a number of small hamlets and minority villages. After 3 hours of light ascent you will descend to the village of Cao Hoong, a village of Thai ethnic minority people, where you spend the night in local home.
Day 04: Trek to Cao Village
After breakfast at homestay. Start your trek through the verdant countryside; it will take around 6 hours. The trek path runs uphill and downhill through forest, rice terraces and scenic villages. On the trek you may see farmers working on rice paddies and children going to school. Lunch break will be in a local village. You spend the night in the Thai village of Cao.
Day 05: Cao Village – Canh Nang Village – Mai Chau
After breakfast, you trek toward Ma River. The trek is quite gentle since you descend a wide-open valley. After 2 hrs trek you will reach Pho Doan Town where you will visit to the local market. Next, you trek Ma River, on the way you will see nice view of river, paddies and water wheel. You will be picked up and transferred to Mai Chau for a late lunch. Have dinner and stay overnight in Pom Coong village in Mai Chau.
Day 06: Mai Chau – Hanoi
Today is a relaxing day. You can take a stroll in Mai Chau Valley to observe daily life activities of the local. You will have lunch in local house before driving back to Hanoi. Arrive in Hanoi around 5 pm. Tour ends.
